So my female rabbit has always had some flakes in her ears. They are at the base of the ear on the inside and look red and uncomfortable. It has never spread anywhere (further in the ears or to her mate that she is with 24/7). She never really scratches, shakes, head tilt, etc. or any other symptoms whatsoever. I cannot find anything online about what this is or how to cure it.  I just want to know what the problem is and how to help my poor baby out.

Since dandruff is often associated with mites, the only way to say for certain if it is mites or just dandruff is to have a vet check her out. Have you checked her neck and the base of her tail? Those are the other popular mite areas.

My little Olivia used to get flakey ears. The vet ruled it was just dandruff. I used to take a little baby brush (one of those really soft brushes for newborns) and gently brush her ears. She loved it and it took the flakes off.
