I posted not long ago about having issues with my 3 month Holland Lop and a runny nose. Again, I would just like to state that there is no color discoloration, sneezing, or runny eyes. She’s been to the vet and the vet claimed that it was allergies, probably to her current hay (Oxbow alfalfa). I got Sherwood Pet Health first cut timothy hay in hopes to wean her off the Oxbow but she’s not having it. She eats all the alfalfa and then proceeds to urinate/defecate on the timothy hay. I know that her runny nose isn’t a major issue but it’s been a month. It’s caused the fur around her nose to brown and I feel like she’s had this issue for too long. We’re moving her enclosure to upstairs, switching to a new litter, and changing her hay. My problem however is finding a brand of alfalfa hay that isn’t Oxbow and is good quality. Since I’m not having luck with the current weaning, I’m hoping to just switch the brand of alfalfa. Any suggestions?

I buy my alfalfa at a local feed store I can get a loaf (a slice from a bail) for only $4 Its enough to fill two big rubber made tubes! Just make sure it smells fresh kind of like raisins Oddly. lol sometimes the outside hay looks pail but under that is good fresh hay (in my case). She might be allergic to alfalfa in general so in that case changing brands wont help. try to get her on timothy if you can. good luck! hope this helps some!
