        Hi all,

Today I put my baby conti in a cage outside and let my other rabbits go up to the bars to sniff him etc (as a start to the bonding process), and I didn’t see anything happen but one of them must’ve bitten my conti by his mouth as he has what seems like a chunk taken out of the area. It’s not bleeding much but I was just wondering when a cut on a rabbit is worthy of a vet trip, and if he will need stitches as it is in a very awkward place and doesn’t appear to be ‘gaping’ . He is still eating/pooping normally and is showing no signs of serious pain. He’ll obviously be staying inside for a bit to avoid infection and to keep him warm, just wondering whether it looks like a vet trip is necessary as even though I have kept bunnies for a long time, I have thankfully not actually had that much experience with injury!

        TIA

If there’s a sign of infection, or right away. Swelling, redness, etc would warrant a vet visit.

I hope that your bunny’s nose will heal on its on, but to be safe you may want to visit the vet anyway.

Rabbits can fight and bite through cage bars. If all of the rabbits haven’t been spayed and neutered and are ready for the bonding process, they shouldn’t have access to one another through cage bars. You can do pre-bonding by swapping blankets, towels, toys, etc., but they should not have any physical access to one another yet. There will be more injuries and the rabbit getting injured can hold a grudge and not want to bond with the other rabbit in the future.

Thank you, I will keep a very close eye on it. Will definitely be waiting until he’s neutered until they have any access to eachother (the other 3 already are), I just hope he doesn’t get too used to being an only bunny Thank you for the pre bonding tips, I’ll give them a try
