Tony’sMum- Haha!!! He’s getting high on pets. He smooshes down like this when he gets really cuddly and demanding for pets.

Ellie-Having 2 white bunnies, I can sympathise about the carpet. I have a beige and dark brown rug and I take a scrub brush (dry) to the carpet in circular motions and it grabs all the bunny hair up before I vacuum. It’s quite an arm workout!!!

I’ve been gone the last month or so because of a sick family member. I left the rabbits in my husband’s care while we were gone. My poor Bam. He didn’t handle it well at all. I kept receiving text messages about Bam attacking him and even drawing blood a few times. This was not the same rabbit I knew. I’ve had him over 3 years and he has never EVER shown an ounce of aggression towards me. I was honestly nervous to go back home and discover what I was coming back to. Wasn’t sure if I would have to start all over and regain his trust to repair our relationship. He went an entire month without much interaction because my husband was terrified of Bam. Wasn’t sure how that was going to affect his character. The following morning I go into the office and open his cage. I sit on the floor and gently pat the floor like I normally do to call him over for some pets. Bam, my precious Bam, hops over and lays his head down. I sat there and petted him for the longest time and he soaked every second of it! He fell asleep as I was petting him. Bam made it pretty loud and clear to me that morning. Bam is not mine; I’m his. He loves me as much, if not more, than I love him. He may be my heart bunny, but I’m his heart human.

Also Dobby and Kreacher definitely missed us! Dobby climbed up on me and started licking me like a little puppy dog. lots of kisses that needed catching up on. And Sampson, my 2.5 year old, wasted no time sharing his banana with the house elves. Kreacher especially enjoyed our homecoming!

I think the biggest issue Bam had was my husband’s hesitant movements. My husband is afraid of rabbits. Even before Bam. So I think he was probably naturally giving off a tense vibe and it put Bam on edge. He was probably sensing fear and he absorbed that and felt fearful as well. So when Bam would lunge it just instilled that fear into my husband and his movements got even more tense and hesitant just making it all worse for both Bam and my husband.

No no no not free range. They’re not even 4 months old and can’t be trusted. They get into so much trouble while out they’re worse than my 2 year old lol! They’re brothers and pretty close right now but I’m watching closely for puberty to hit. Can’t have any fights.

I’ve seen that before, that rabbits attack people who are overly energetic or have a nervous vibe. Breintje once attacked a friend of ours who’s very fidgety and quite unfamiliar with animals. Another time he bit one of Bas’ roommates who was trying to impress a girl by acting very macho.

It’s a shame your husband is afraid of them, and this incident probably won’t improve matters :/

LOL! According to his breeder the ears stop growing at around 4 months old. The body will continue to grow though so he won’t look TOO goofy in due time!

Their ears won’t grow more but he won’t grow into them either. They stay really long. They have long ears because when English lops were originally created they lived in really hot climates so needed larger ears to regulate their own temps.

The part about English lops that gets me is if their ears get too cold they can actually fall right off!

His ears are done growing but given he’s only 4 months old his body will continue to grow out. I understand he will forever have awkwardly large ears but his body will grow larger so he won’t look as funky as he does now with a 5 pound body attached to over 2 feet of ears ??

But they had issues with their ears getting wet in winter , once they get to cold the ears then freeze and fall off. So they crossed them with slightly smaller breed and got the French lop and they got smaller ears than the English , then crossed with Netherland dwarf to form the holland lop

Netherland Dwarfs themselves were originally bred from the Polish rabbit and wild European rabbits, so the Holland lop has got some Polish genes in them!

They are the original lop! Every lop originated from the English lop. And despite their name, They originated in Africa. I’m not sure what crosses they used to get the smaller lops though. I just know they were the first breed of lops haha!

Since I’m currently going through bonding and we will be ready to move the buns into their hutch in the near future, I’ve started on decorating their area! ……honestly y’all, where do I find the time to do this? ……  

ANYWAY….. So far I’ve only done the wall above where their hutch will go, but here we are. (going for a fun, springy scheme here)

I found this little wood sign at hobby lobby that said “Home is where your (heart symbol) is”….and after walking around I saw this wooden bun…and I had an idea… so that’s that! Home is where your bun is  I’m so excited to get their hutch in, finish decorating, and say goodbye to this ugly metal cage in the bedroom! We still have some time to go…but I get ahead of myself….

It’s not December yet, but shops have started to sell Sinterklaas treats already, including speculaas. Speculaas is very popular as a holiday treat in NL and Belgium, and it’s made with brown sugar and a special spice mixture containing pepper, ginger, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg and cinnamon. Never mind that the good old Sint isn’t here yet, the weather is lousy enough already and it’s a real treat with a hot cup of tea.

Bas surprised me with a packet of 3 large speculaas chunks with almonds on them. Breintje was very happy to find that OUR speculaas is back again, and keeps following me around when I open the snack drawer It’s a strong-smelling and strong-flavoured cookie, and he MUST have a nibble.

You ARE planning on sharing that, aren’t you?

Funny, Olaf is obsessed with Biscoff cookies (or any gingery/spice cookies). I have to eat them, quietly, in the kitchen over the sink so he won’t run me over trying to get them. He doesn’t care much for other people food but look out if you have these. Almond ones sound scrummy!

Ophelia and Quincy are adorable. I love those bunny couples that are completely different in colour. My two are newly ‘bonded’ (not sure when I can officially say bonded because I’m nervous I might jinx it:ermm. But I’m finding myself still constantly checking what they’re doing but trying to be sneaky about it so they don’t think I’m always watching. But because theyre similar in colour I’m never sure if they’re snuggling or not as all I can see is a gingery beige blob inside a cardboard box

I started teaching myself to embroider a few years ago but got distracted by other projects. I want to do hand embroidered towels and stuff as Christmas gifts this year, so I am doing a few practice tries first on some cheap hand towels. Here is a purple rose I did last night – I just need to do the leaf on the right. Any thoughts? I’m pretty happy with it for a first go!

And here we have some photos of dinner time last night. Husband got a bit drunk at a friend’s house so when I brought him home and got rabbit food ready he insisted that we had to sit down and hand feed the rabbits everything in the bucket.

Okay, so I did already add my rab’s photos here in one reply….  But look at these.  My heart, ♥♥♥ ♥♥♥
We go for a daily walk.  I started walking her 3 days ago.  During today’s walk, she binkied as she hopped along!!  Twice.  I’m so glad she likes it as much as I do. And she looks so precious in purple!!

I can’t afford a harness for any of mine yet, but I plan to eventually!

I do volunteer at my local animal shelter though, and for a while we had a bun who wasn’t allowed in the exercise pens because she would climb to the too and then jump down – and it was quite a hight. Most of the other volunteers didn’t want to handle her because she was a bit pushy for attention, but I offered to put a harness on her and take her out for a wander. She absolutely loved it and was running everywhere! She took me to the exercise pens and tried to climb the outside of one! Thankfully a wonderful family has adopted her to be an inside bun so she will have lots of attention and exercise now!

I’m not really worried about it tbh; the leash this “comfort harness” came with is stretchy, so it accommodates for sudden movements.

No matter the size of harness I get for Reese, she still slips right out of it! She doesn’t run away or anything, she just jumps and her whole body slides right through the neck part (Even ferret size! Maybe it is the material not the size). I did end up getting one that was made of rope that didn’t let her slip right out.

Bam is enjoying the free roaming life again. Had to kick out my house elves to my sunroom. I have a 7 month old and for some reason, the english lops bite his toes and fingers. No biggie, just lock them up while my baby is awake, right? NO! Maddox crawls over to their cage and tries to climb up it which in turn causes bites. They don’t mean it in an aggressive way. They just kind of nip as they lick you. Doesn’t break my skin but for baby delicate skin it darn near takes the entire tip of his fingers off. So they are booted just until Maddox is old enough to better understand boundaries. Or after they are a bit calmer for the kiddos. With all that said, Bam is now back to free roaming the house. Which really just means the office and play room area because he doesn’t like the laminate flooring lol but he’s happy nonetheless. He doesn’t mind my 2 year old or 7 month old.

Only one week left til I get to move back in with them permanently !

Yumi is just a bunny that needs constant love. The more you give the better she is as a pet. Sadly the last few month have been stressful for her and she’s started getting some behavioral problems-biting, lunging, growling hiding and sulking (she’s been to the vet and is in fine health). I honestly think that she’ll be okay after a few weeks of TLC but it is sad to hear that she’s being so difficult for my family. 

Speaking of behavior.. my poor wall!!

Breintje bun is having some runny tummy troubles, probably because of the moult. I put him on solids for two days and thought he was ready for a bit of veggies again, but no: he messed himself and the cage again Pellets and hay for you for a while mister…
To help him a bit I gave him some infant gas relief meds and a tummy massage on the dining table. Afterwards he walked up to me and pressed himself to my chest. He sat there for several minutes while I petted him, he seemed to get comfort from it and that was really cute. A big step for a bun who doesn’t like being held closely.
