Besides being a book worm, I’m also a movie buff. So I thought it might be fun if every time one of us sees a film they enjoy, we post the title in this thread.

You don’t have to explain why you liked the movie (although you’re welcome to list whatever reason you want – it can be as random as “just because”).

The way I see it, it would be cool to have an ongoing list of recommendations. Who knows? You might discover your new favourite movie.

I just saw Unforgettable (2017). Thanks to the characters, it was pleasantly intense even when I saw certain plot twists coming.

          Ohhh I like this idea!
The last film that I went to see was “It comes at Night”

Its almost a very good film (I felt some parts could have been developed just a bit more) and even though it wasn’t that amazing, I found myself telling people to “just go see it”
I value in films that feeling of “im really not sure where this is going or whats really happening”

A film like it would be, Coherence (2013) which I thought was very good as well , they are a little bit a way from what I’m used to in big production films, so I guess that’s why they stuck with me

I enjoyed John Wick and would recommend it…. Hehe.

Have you got fifteen minutes? Have you got an hour? Have you got all day?

Classic movies (and TV) are one of my passions, along with fashion history, the Edwardian Era, alternate history, vintage and revival pinup photography and art, and (now!) bunnies. I have a couple of hundred books on vintage film and performers, and even more movies on DVD (and my computer’s hard drives and external storage drives), keep my TV semi-permanently tuned to TCM, and could probably bore you all to tears with one of my disquisitions on why the studio system was in many ways superior to what we have now.

Don’t get too overwhelmed, Joe. It’s not a “what movies have you liked in the past” thread. It’s literally for when you’ve just seen a movie and want to share the title. So a “share as you watch” kind of thing. Otherwise I’d be in trouble too and would have to post my spreadsheet of several thousand titles of movies I like enough to watch again (and therefore own LOL). Like John Wick. And Holy Grail.

I watched ‘Pawn sacrifice’ with my youngest son and his gf, both keen chess players, a couple of nights ago. We all enjoyed the film

Your comment reminded me of the film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”. Have you ever seen that?  I wouldn’t class it in same genre as the 2 you listed (they seem more sci-fi/psychological/horror/thriller??) but i would call it psychological.  I havent seen it in years…I should watch it again.

As to recently seen movies…. I literally cannot remember what I last saw at the cinema, nor anything seen elsewhere.  So I will most likely just be a reader rather then contributor on this thread!

I really liked “The Martian”, because it is unexpected. With most science fiction movies that are about martians and space, you expect there to be aliens. But this movie is about a human who becomes a martian. He gets left behind on mars, because the other astronauts thought he was dead, and he has to learn to survive on an unfamiliar planet all by himself! Don’t wanna spoil anything because it is a really good movie.

Another awesome movie is “Apollo 13”. I feel like i’m going to spoil it too much if I try to explain, so i’m just not going to. Just watch it, it’s great. Tom Hanks is a famous actor in this movie.

Reese! You gave away all the good bits of The Martian! Narf!

                                just kidding – good movie

I liked Land of Mine (Under sandet 2015), but it wasn’t exactly a feel-good movie.

The girl on the train(2016) is very good. It’s one of those films that keeps you guessing the whole way through. Please note: it’s not a good film if you have a partner with a short attention span who can’t remember anyone’s name or if it’s showing something in the past or present .

You forget things like that happened after the war (de-mining a million German landmines on a Danish sandy beach as Hitler mistaking predicted that a danish beach would be the site of the great landing….. on the edge of your seat movie.

                                        Great topic!

We just watched “Slither”. I enjoyed it, although sadly it was one of those cases where most of the funny stuff is already in the trailer. It wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be, but still good enough.

I can definitely recommend “The Cabin in the Woods”, though. You go into it thinking it’s just one of those teen horror movies (and it does start out that way), but it turns into a surprisingly great movie.
