Yesterday, my wife and I adopted two little baby buns from the local shelter. They are blue and white, 2 month old, dutch, sisters named Rose Anna and Zephyr. They are the sweetest and cutest little things.

We were worried when we got them that we wouldn’t be able to tell them apart, because they are damn near identical. Their personalities however couldn’t be more opposite. Rose Anna is totally gregarious, and always begging for petting and attention. Zephyr on the other hand is very shy, and while she will tolerate being petted, she doesn’t actively seek it out and mostly likes to lay in the farthest corner of the cage.  My mother in law jokes that she was a cat in a previous life. I’m hoping that she is simply still in shock from the change in environment and will eventually warm up to us all and seek attention like her sister.

We also have a 1 1/2 year old Flemish Giant named Toe Beans. So far introducing him to the sisters has been great. They have sniffed each other through the cages, and we opened the the inside door so the rabbits could co-mingle under supervision. Toe Beans laid there uncaring while Rose Anna ran around both cages and climbed all over him. Zephyr didn’t care at all that the cage door was opened and laid in her favorite corner as usual. Toe Beans has been noticeably pooping outside of his liter box for the past couple of days. I assume it’s to mark his territory, with the new little ones around.  I also think its cute that he and Rose Anna both get a little on the jealous side if someone is petting one but not the other.

The size difference between the buns is comical. My biggest concern with socialization is Beans not realizing that he is so much larger than the other two.

Just wanted to share this new found joy. I’ve always loved rabbits and I was happy we could give these two sweet girls a great and loving home!

Adorable! I bet they’ll use their identical looks to try and trick an extra treat or two out of you .
