I’m about to relocate from a house share to a large studio flat.

The landlord didn’t specifically state no pets allowed but I signed a standard contract with a no pets clause. In theory no landlord can refuse my rabbit due to the allotments act, but as that act has never been tested in court, I’d rather keep my rabbit’s presence discreet.

I’m going to ask my hay provider to delivery hay in a discreet black bag instead of the usual transparent bag. Will also order a large closet to hide my rabbit in during inspections, and also go for a rabbit hutch that looks like a closet. I’ll just put clothes on the top hanging down to cover the mesh wire parts.

Where I have lived for several years, there’s been no damage at all caused by my rabbit due to good bun behaviour and close supervision. I’m going to keep my rabbit in the hutch when I’m at work and free range when I’m at home.

If my landlord inspects, I can turn on the radio and laptop or fan etc to create enough non-suspicious background noise to block out any noise my rabbit might make.

I’m also going to switch the type of carrier I use to a more discreet one.

It’s all planned out, I’m not going to abandon my buddy.

Even with a radio on or Laptop bunnies can make a lot of noise or sneeze out of the blue, be careful.

My landlord doesn’t allow pets either so my rabbits are secret rabbits….They’ve not inspected our house since we got the buns (last October) but our contract renewal is in a few months so I assume they’ll come and check! I plan to put the buns in their carrier and drive round the corner while my partner stays at home lol. They don’t have cages so it’ll be pretty easy to hide their stuff.

I have a solution to the noise, and also to make the hutch masqueraded as a wardrobe with a cover on. I’m thinking of getting some Audimute Sound Absorption Sheets. They look like a blanket, will help keep my rabbit warm and also block off sound. I won’t cover the entire hutch, just most of it. I’ll drill several small holes in the side facing the window to help with ventilation, and any noise escapes that way and not into the flat.
