Hello everyone! I currently have two neutered male Holland Lops they are Bolt, 2 years old, and Shadow, a year old. I have wanted to get another rabbit for quite a while, but haven’t found the right one(based on location etc.). I have found this pair of two spayed female dwarf rabbits both a year old, can someone give me their opinion? Or should I try to do a trio with a female that is spayed? Also how would I want to bond these rabbits if I do decide on one of them? Let me know your thoughts!

Sorry for the duplicate, I think I put it under the wrong section.

          Hi, HollandLopz!
It’s probably a good idea to keep an even amount of rabbits. For a while I had a trio( two males and a female) and they all got along reasonably well except that one of the males was usually alone and slightly separated from the other two because they were mates and didn’t feel like they needed another rabbit near them. A few months later I got another female and after a bit of aggression and jealousy the other female warmed up to her and now all four are inseparable.
So it would be okay to get both females, maybe even beneficial because they would have the support of one another during the bonding process rather than being alone and facing two males. However I do have to warn you, the clean-up is much harder and the price of feeding them goes up considerably (obviously, but just something to consider that I forgot). Also, they will need slightly more room unless they have free roam of the house or backyard etc. etc.
Just make sure to bond them properly or someone could get hurt! Hope this helped!

It will come down to the buns personalities, bonding four can be done, I tried but failed, as the girls didn’t get on. I currently have 3 boy girl pairs, none of the girls will allow a quartet. There is also a possibility that introducing two pairs can break existing bonds. So you need space for two pairs before and during bonding and to be able to deal with broken bonds, so you might end up with a pair and two solos, a trio and a solo etc.

Panda and Fernando’s foster mom has no fewer than six bunnies of her own, all of whom are apparently bonded as a group and living together in perfect peace and felicity. It was one heck of an impressive sight when I visited my buns at her home last Saturday.

Yes, it really depends on personality. Hermione (my newest girl) is just so patient and endearing. Ginny attacked her and growled at her whenever they got near and Hermione never once even tried to attack back or even tried to look threatening at all. She is just the sweetest thing, never even crossed her mind that she should fight back. Now they’re very happy together, they’re closer to each other than they are the boys. It really depends, but I would give it a shot if you want four rabbits. Just make sure no one gets hurt because bunnies don’t forget easily!
