        Hi,

I have a question. My bunny is 2 months 3 weeks old and he is a Lop. He was not eating and doing poop I took him to vet and The Vet, she gave me few medication and critical condition food and I fed my bunny for 2-3 days now he is eating normal. But I do saw him behaving different. Like, He is running and hitting walls. So i kept him in his cage so now he walks and fall down as if he can’t maintain his balance and he always put his chin high which makes his head lean back. I told my vet she is assuming (she is not sure) parasite in his brain and she said nothing can be done. Can anybody give any advice on this. I want to know why this happens? Do really my bunny is not normal and he can’t be normal how he use to be?

Another vet consultation is really what you need. No guarantees, but a more experienced rabbit vet may be able to recommend a good regimen of medication that could cure whatever your lovely bunbun may have. This vet is at the end of her road with your rabbit, so see if another vet may be willing to trek more ground.

Wow, that certainly is strange. Is this vet experienced in rabbits? To just assume that it’s a parasite in his brain without any evidence or other diagnostic testing? I would find a new vet.

Judging by the symptoms, this could be E Cuniculi, a parasite common to rabbits – and it CAN be treated. You need to find another vet -one who has some knowledge about bunnies- ASAP! Panacur, taken for at least 28, is an effective treatment. Please seek help for your bunny.

Nothing worse then a vet telling you nothing can be done. In this case, I don’t think that is true at all !

Putting him on anti inflammatory med would have been a start.

There is a common parasite that affects rabbit and there is a common treatment (as mentioned above). Often, inner ear infections can also cause a rabbit to lose balance.

What you describe with his head sounds like he might be having small seizures. Does he act normal after he does this?
Is he breathing okay? Or is he trying to breath when pointing his head up?

If you feel comfortable posting the general area that you live, we can try help you locate another vet if you want.
