Last night I was sitting on the floor with Bean and had a bottle of water (the recyclable kind) on the floor with me. He started attacking it and chewed a small hole through the bottom! I emptied it and put it back out for him again today, and it’s the most interested he’s been in any toy. He will chew toilet paper rolls and cardboard, but quickly loses interest. I’m happy he’s found something to chew other than random objects in my room, but I can’t help thinking a water bottle is not the best toy… I’m not sure if he’s eating the plastic (if so it would be a tiny amount) or just gnawing on it.

Is this a safe toy? Do you have suggestions for other toys? I’ve tried a willow ball, cardboard tubes, random cardboard, small wooden blocks, grass mats–none of them are as exciting as this water bottle!

I don’t think the water bottle is a very safe toy. His stomach is not used to plastic so if he eats a lot the plastic could get clogged up in his stomach.

Try a ball with a bell in it my bun loves those you can get plastic cat balls from the dollar store. Also tunnels my bun loves them. You can get them from the dollar store the just cat tunnels. My bun also loves Luffa toys (not sure how to spell that).

I hesitate to say that’s safe, just because the digestion of just a little is something a rabbit’s digestive tract is not equipped to handle. I know some rabbits enjoy baby toys, which are more safe. Some people’s rabbits like the toy keys and stacking cups. Perhaps this route is more to your rabbits liking.
