My bun got neutered yesterday. He seems to physically be recovering well. Taking his meds, no sign of pain. But he has gone a little crazy today! He is running around when I let him out, chewing like a maniac on everything and throwing things about (he never did that before). Is this likely related to his recovery? He is being so bad!

Some rabbits will go into a post neuter craze, due to their fluctuating hormones. This could last a few weeks. It’s best if you limit his activity for a few days so that the incision sites can heal and so that the stitches don’t come undone.

Thanks. I do have him restricted to a very small area out of his cage. No jumping or anything. Just enough to relieve a little boredom.

I do hope this is just a hormone surge. What a naughty bun!!

Oops, sorry for the multiple posts! I had issues posting from my phone.

Just to clarify, when I said ‘running around’ it was a figure of speech. He only has an area about 2×3 feet outside his cage at the moment. I meant he is going from one end to the other, chewing and throwing everything in sight (baseboards, his cardboard boxes, etc.). I’m managing the chewing but it is just as if he’s on a rampage vs his usual behavior
