        Hi

I noticed this morning that my rabbit has got a sore eye. It’s quite pink on the lower eyelid but there’s no crustiness or bumps around it.

He doesn’t seem bothered by it at all, lets me touch it and is doing his usual binkying and flopping all over the place, acting as normal as house rabbits can be!

We gave him timothy hay yesterday which he hasn’t had in a few months, but he isn’t sniffing or anything so I don’t think it’s an allergy to that. However, when we were cleaning his cage he did manage to jump in the bag of dirty bedding and get it all over his head, could it be bacteria from that? A quick google suggests it might be conjunctivitis, but googling is very scary! He’s had his myxomatosis jab.

We won’t be able to get him to the vets until tomorrow, does anyone have any idea of what it could be?

Sorry about the poor quality picture, he’s not in the mood for posing!

        Thanks in advance

It could be sth he got in his eye that’s irritating it. You can try rinsing it with saline eye wash for humans and see if that helps.

Thanks, I was thinking of trying to get some later. I’ve also read that chamomile tea can be quite soothing so will try some of that too
