My bunny is currently 5 months old. I had him neutered at 3 1/2 months because his litter habits starting changing due to hormones. When I got him as a baby, he was very good with his litter habits, however, ever since puberty, it got worser and worser. The neutering did not help at all. At night, he would poop a ton outside his litter box. It would be all over the playpen. It’s like a ridiculous amount of poop. He doesn’t bother to poop in the litter box at all at night. Why? Why is he doing this? He’s fine in the daytime. He still poops outside a little in the daytime. But not as bad as at night.

I have a corner litter box for him. Do you think maybe it’s getting too small for him and it’s hard to maneuver in it at night with no light?

My rabbit does the same thing! I can’t understand it. I have a huge corner box and then One day she just stopped using it half the time. It’s soooo frustrating! I’d definitely go with a bigger litter box but like one of the cat pan ones if the corner box doesn’t work.

I suggest a bigger box. It should be big enough for him to lay in if he wants to. And put lots of hay on one side of it. Buns love to eat and poo at the same time. You want to encourage him to want to spend time in there.

Both mine have huge trays – storage tubs with plastic tier shelving units inside them yet both poop outside their boxes still a lot.
They are both neutered, both healthy , both have ample space in litter trays , housed seperately -yet they still do it about 20-30% of their poop is not in the box. The rest is in box and always their wee is in the box.
