As many of you know vets can get very expensive. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with rabbit insurance? I believe the only provider is Nationwide. Did it help with any emergency costs? The insurance would be for my two flemish giants. Any input is appreciated.

I’m in the UK and I insure mine with Pet Plan. It costs £23 per month for the two of mine. Buttercup has needed emergency vet treatment for stasis three times and having insurance has been a financial life saver! Without it, we’d have had to either borrow (but from who?) or not pay our rent.

I have insurance through nationwide for my 3 bunnyrabbits. They give a nice multible pet discount which i thought was awesome so i only pay $11 per bun per month.
So far it has treated me very well. It does not cover normal checkups or medications but anything beyond that. Teeth fixing and tummy aches. It goes off of a precentage depending on the treatment.
Right now I had to go to the emergency vet and the bill was $1650, so ill let you know how my claim gets handeled at that point.

I also want to mention there is an app you can use to have all your bunny info in one place and it also connects to nationwide so you can file claims through it as well. It is call VitusVet. Even without insurance you can store all your pets medical history there for easy access.

If you have any questions fire away!

I’d be interested in hearing if any Canucks found bunny insurance

I just read that Nationwide is terrible with pet insurance, does it work well for you? I was interested in but seeing how bad they are with payout and service I’m thinking a piggy bank might be more payout.

I’m considering Nationwide for pet insurance myself, but I’m not going to rely entirely on it – I’m also going to try the “Pet Assurance” 25% discount program (assuming whichever vet I select takes it) for regular expenses and see about getting the Care Credit card, which covers vet as well as human medical expenses.

I pay a lot more than that for Pet Plan for my two!

Are you on a special discount sarahthegemini? Or have you been with them for a long time?
