So, I checked Winnies ears today and I see this brown dryish looking skin. Looks like dry skin but brown. I checked above her tail and didnt see anything. She doesnt seem to be overly grooming or itching her ears or scratching. Her ears are not red, or inflammed. No scabs. But i am concerned.. i looked very closely with an LED light and didnt see anything moving or crawling. I have red tea tree oil, water and vinegar solution to  drop inside ear? anybody with experience or advice? My vet wont be in until monday!!! Ive heard about oral ivermectin?

what am i able to use for this just in case?

Doesn’t look like typical mites but hard to say. Do not use Tea Tree Oil. It’s toxic if ingested and she will def groom her ears. Maybe they are just dirty? I would take a small amount of mineral oil on a cotton ball and gently try to wipe it off. What does her ear canal look like? Take a flashlight and try to see inside. If it is mites, you will see build up in the ear canal.

Her ear canal as far as I can see is pretty clear, it doesnt go all the way down but it does go down far. It does look like shes not cleaning her ears. like a dogs ears if they dont get cleaned. Pepe did bite her in the eye, maybe her head just hurts from that bite and shes not cleaning all well. :/

Should I try and clean those areas of her ear very very gently, just to see if it is dirt? What would be the safest and most gentle thing to use?

With buns, you want to avoid putting any fluids in their ears unless it’s prescription drops or some other necessary evil. Their ears aren’t as ventilated (lol) as ours or shorter eared animal ears are, so moisture in there can persist and cause issues. Having said that, if wiping with a damp cotton ball removed nothing, it may just be her skin recovering from something (like maybe a mild allergic reaction?) the way our skin tans or freckles when burned by sun or chemical or whatnot. Just a theory. If it had been mites, chances are some residue would have wiped off. Can you call vet and describe or email pics and ask to avoid stressing Winn out with a trip?

I was certainly terrified this was mites. But your posts are making feel slightly better. It is very strange though. Yeah, I would never drop anything in the bunnies ears. and I made sure that the cotton was not soaked, it didnt even leave any liquid residue lol. Yeah, nothing came off when i tried wiping away. Q8, thats a really good theory. Idk what it could be from..if it were an allergic reaction. I did let the bunnies play outside for the first time in there lives about a week ago. Maybe the grass? or something? I am gonna see if a vet will allow me to send pics to see. Yeah, Winnie really dislikes car rides. Last time I had to put her in her carrying case, she scared me. I thought she was like seizing or something. I had to pull over on the side of the road to check her. She ended up being fine.
