I have a very big dehydrator and I was thinking rather than spending money on dry bunny treats I should dehydrate some goodies for him.

What does everyone recommend? I know fresh is always the best option but I thought this would be a good way to keep some extra treats on hand.

I was thinking about some herbs (parsley for sure). Could I even put in some fresh grass and make my own hay from that?

I dehydrate carrots, tomatoes, and peppers. I have tried many things and those are the ones they like best. One of my buns likes dehydrated bananas. Raisins are always a hit but I buy those.

You can dry grass and a variety of leaves. I dry apple leaves, dandelion, ground elder, plantain, mint, rose leaves (pesticide-free rose bushes), hawthorn leaves, sea buckthorn leaves, willow and a little bit of clover/alfalfa. This winter I bought fennel at a very favorable price and dried in slices.

You can experiment quite a bit. I pack the dry leaves in IKEA food bags and use as supplement food during winter. It’s very popular.

Thanks for the tips! Dehydrating grass would be great. We have short summers where I am and he loves grass. Being able to have some dried during the winter would be perfect.

I forgot to mention apples. Once they are nice and dried you can break them into treat-sized bits. The tomatoes are by far their favorite of the stuff I dry myself.

I fogot about apples too! Apple slices and pear slices dehydrate very well and make good treats for both buns and humans.
