Is the Applewood chunks or chips that I find in the bbq section of a store safe for my bunnies to chew on?

Wood from apple trees is perfectly safe, however I would worry the store-bought stuff would contain harmful chemicals. You can call the company to ask about that. If you can find someone with an apple tree in your area, you could probably ask for a few branches from them.

Apple wood is safe, but the chips and chunks sold for smoking might not be plain apple wood. I’d email the company for specifics about what their product really contains. They’d probably tell you not to feed it to a rabbit anyway, because it’s not the intended use, and they don’t want to risk a lawsuit. So I’d just ask about the ingredients and say I want to know to make sure it’s safe for my children.

Thanks. After reading some of the packaging, it said its blended with some kind of chemical to produce more smoke for cooking. Not animal food friendly.
