        Hi there everyone

I have a female bunny who is about three years old and I currently I am trying to bond her to my new bunny, a 1 year old male.

They are both spayed and neutered. When I put them next to eachother in their cages they are fine with eachother, but as soon as I put them in the kitchen to begin the bonding session my female rabbit is so scared of the other one that she just hides behind me and sits there and the other bunny has not even touched her really. How can I make her not be so scared of him? He is a mixed breed lop eared bunny about 3 kg, she is a tiny dwarf about 1 kg.

You could try taking it slower. Let them be in their cages next to each other for a while longer. Switch their toys, then their litter boxes, between them so they get really acquainted with each other’s scents.

If she wants to hide during a bonding session, I’d let her. After a few short sessions like that, she might think it’s safe to explore a little bit. Don’t be impatient but let her take her time.
