I have a Netherland dwarf and I am concerned about his grooming habits. He has some good sized matts near his under arm areas on both sides. He doesn’t have them really anywhere else though. He also sometimes pulls little chunks of fur out. Other than that he seems to be a happy bunny. He eats well and loves to play inside. Is there a bigger underlying issue I can be concerned about? How can I remove the matts without hurting his delicate skin? Thanks for the help!!

I would suggest gently brushing out the mats over a couple of days. He also might just not be able to reach those areas. How old is he? Is he a little chubby? Because both of these things can stop him from reaching some areas of his body to clean. I know that my super cute chubby rabbit can’t reach his under area so every now and then I have to give him a butt bath.
