How long would a healthy, indoor, Lionhead male live? He’s energetic, loves to eat, is very happy, and is 7 years old? Thank you.

8 to 15 years on average.

It sounds like Coco has some good years left in him yet!

Life expectancy of rabbits really varies, depending where you read. It can also vary depending on breed. The giant breeds don’t generally live as long as smaller breeds. The House Rabbit Society campaigns for rabbits often state “Rabbits are a 10 year commitment”. 10 years being an average life span we see more of these days.  I commonly see 12yr old rabbits online now too.

This is worth viewing: Howcast – How long do rabbits live?

Just a note: The opening line is “How long do rabbits live? Well, that question is really answered in terms of how well you take care of a rabbit” **

**Bit of a disclaimer on that, a very well looked after rabbit may live short life as we know how quickly they can become ill and pass away. So, a short live does not automatically equate to poor care.
