So I have a New Zeland white (F) and I have no idea how much pellets to give. I read 1/4 and she is about 2 pounds, at least I think when I first took her to the vet last month she was around one pound but has definitely grown since then. She is around 12 weeks old.

Well, I may not be a bunny owner yet but I can sure answer your question from the research I have done over the weeks. I have heard a couple times that you should feed an eighth of a cup every 3 pounds your bunny weighs, daily. Hope this helps!

at 12 weeks your bunny is growing. She needs unlimited pellets until about 6 months old. They eat what they want, but they need to be given unlimited pellets while they’re still in their baby months.

Unlimited pellets until 6months of age is correct. However, some bunnies do over eat and then don’t eat their hay. So if you see this happening, you will need to restrict pellets anyway, somewhere in the range of 1/4-1/2 cup daily at a guess.

Ok thank you all for the replies. It did happen a couple of times where she would just go for the pellets. What I do now is let her eat it until she runs out from her bowl which last till night time then I only allow her to eat her hay till wake up again. Just wondering if this is fine as well. It’s my first bunny so I’m still learning. I’ve read unlimited but how much are we talking really ??

Maybe you could add some alfalfa hay, if you mix it in with timothy hay or whichever hay you’re using, it may get her to be more interested in the hay. I heard that may help in these cases. Although I’ll let an expert correct me if I’m wrong.

I’ll give that a try. Although it makes me wonder maybe she doesn’t like where the hay is being placed. Currently I have it in a makeshift hay rack but noticed that when I was getting ready to fill up the hay rack she jumped into the box containing the hay and went to town on it. I’m stuck between leaving some on the floor or making a hay box instead. Also she doesn’t like hay in her litter box.

Mine used to use a hay rack but they started to dislike it and throw it off their cage, I just put their hay in their litterbox. What I also do is stuff toilet paper or paper towel rolls with hay and they love that, although it may be a mess, it encourages them to nibble on the hay. I cut the ends to make strips and make it more interesting. But it may just be the type of hay, brand, or cut. Mine prefer Oxbow timothy hay rather to the standard cut of timothy we have for litterboxes. One thing to remember is that the hay is not always consistent from what I’ve read, sometimes they love the bag and then the next one won’t be the same, might be more crunchy and whatnot.
