So, here’s the jist. Bruce loves to sit on the windowsill of the bedroom and look out the window. I love watching him do this because sometimes he sees wild rabbits and puts his front paws up on the window as if to say hello. The only problem is, when his distant cousins are not outside to visit, Bruce likes to chew on the windowsill and the wall next to the window! I’ve tried correcting him, which he ignores (figures), covering up the windowsill and wall, but he pulls it off.  I’m not sure else what to do. I would hate to block it off due to him loving it so much, but Bruce’s Grandma and Grandpa would be mighty angry with him if they found out he’s been chewing their windowsill.

Could you put a chew toy up there for him instead – attach it in some way so it can’t drop to the floor?

I had a similar issue of Terry up on my study desk and window sill chewing my sewing machine cover. Chew toys worked as a distraction for him. I actually gave him an old high school text book which he loves, but I have to be careful because some days he doesn’t spit out what he chews. He isn’t so bad now that he has Maggie as a friend though.

One of the ladies at the shelter I got Dulce from recommended rubbing bar soap on windowsills or baseboards to discourage chewing. Haven’t tried it yet, but seems like it would make sense.

You could also try temporarily installing baseboard protectors and plastic framing to deter him until he forgets this particular trick.
