So I have 2 lop rabbits. We found out they had mites in March. They started ivermectin right away and I took them in every 2 weeks for their shots. After the 3rd round of shots they started to clear up but they were still hanging around. My vet switched us to revolution and I just gave them their last treatment yesterday. I was told this would probably just be a precautionary treatment but they STILL HAVE MITES. I found a patch behind my females ear two days ago. We are keeping them confined to our dining room and have been laying sheets down that we wash every other day. We bleach their cages (per my vet and mixed with water) every 3 days. We are keeping everything so incredibly clean. I don’t understand. I am reaching a breaking point because my poor buns have had mites for months and I am going crazy because I’m cleaning like a mad woman and spending all this money and doing everything I possibly can and they just won’t die. Has anyone been through this for this long?? Does anyone have any recommendations or tips that will help along this terrible journey. Also, my vet gave me SSD cream to spot treat and still… nothing. Someone please help me. I have hit rock bottom and exhausted all efforts

          Mites can be really stubborn!

One of my rabbits had the 3 ivermectin shots but they still didn’t completely clear. So I did Revolution and that sorted it. What dose of Revolution did they have? Maybe they need a higher dose?

Could there be another skin infection along wiith the mites perhaps? SSD cream should help if there is a bacterial skin infection, but I don’t know if it is anti-fungal.

I’m not exactly sure what dosage the revolution is. They come in very small tubes that are only 2 or 3 drops. I still have 3 weeks technically after the last dose I gave them but it’s still very frustrating I can still see them after all this time. How do they even get them?

Sometimes mites can come in on hay, otherwise if they spend times outdoors they can sometimes pick them up outside.
