I have a couple questions I want to ask…. I’ve read that keeping your rabbit in a small cage with 1 hour or less of playtime with help your rabbits leg heel (btw my rabbit hurt his front left paw by hitting his pen when binkying. Most people think it’s just a sprain and should heel soon without needing to go to the vet) so do you think keeping my rabbit in a small cage so he can’t hurt himself is a good idea? (I would feel bad doing this but i will do anything to keep his leg ok).

I posted a topic and asked if I should give him anything like critical, bene bac, etc. Someone said it’s not needed but bene bac might help. So I did some more reasearch and I found a link. http://archive.friendsofrabbits.org/FoR/public_html/health/firstaid_lathan.htm. And if you scroll down it says to give your rabbit half of a baby aspirin. Do you think I should do this? Or should I use bene bac (basically I’m asking if I should use bene bac or baby aspirin). if his leg is still not better in a certain amount of days should I take him to the vet (my vet is 1+ hours away). So how long should I wait before taking him to the vet?

I’m so sorry for posting so many topics about my buns leg but this is my first bunny and I would die without him I just don’t want anything to happen to him and I wasn’t really prepared for this I didn’t think this would happen. He was just having fun by binkinging and now he’s hurt.

Aspirin can be used for rabbits, but only under veterinary supervision. So you shouldn’t use it unless directed by your vet. You could try calling or emailing your vet, but he or she probably wouldn’t want to give you the go ahead to use a pain reliever without first seeing your rabbit. Benebac will not help with any kind of pain or inflammation. It is to help with keeping the stomach flora in balance. It is often used when a rabbit is taking an antibiotic, since antibiotics can cause GI problems.
