        Hello everybody!

About 2 months ago, my mother and my little sister brought to bunnies to our home. They haven’t asked about their age, But I assume that they are like 3.5-4 months old. They bought these two as Hollad Lops. But Holland Lops don’t have fur that is this long. Probably they are Fuzzy Lops but not so sure.

Anyways, I wanted to ask if anybody know if their fur will grow longer. I groom them everyday and their fur don’t always keep their shape right. Especially when they groom each other. their fur get too messy and curly.

And Luna has some flaky skin on her ears. They both had flea problem and they got treated but Snowball don’t have those flakes on him. At a rabbit forum (Can’t remember which one) it was advised to apply on some baby oil. So I tried it once or twice. Just to make sure, it won’t have any side effect on my bunbuns will it?

They do look like fuzzy lops and the curly/messy fur is a trait of that so that’s the most likely explanation or they might possibly be crossed with something else? The pictures are coming out quite small possibly because I’m using my mobile so it’s a little hard to properly tell but they do look similar to other fuzzy lops I’ve seen
As for the fur length, it might grow a little more but only as they grow in size, I’ve never seen a fuzzy Holland with outrageous fur but they are long haired rabbits. You won’t end up with a rabbit with fur like an angora if that’s what your worried about lol
I’m not 100% sure on the last question but I would think as long as there are no harsh chemicals in the oil and your not soaking them in it, it should be okay, I’ve heard of rabbits licking worse stuff off their fur before with little consequence!

Your two look very cute by the way!!

Oops sorry, my attachment wasn’t uploaded  Thank you btw! It is nearly impossible to see a rabbit that is not cute

Yeah they are probably mixed. My mother visited where she bought my babies. And there was no fuzzy lops left. So probably there were 1-2 litter of these mixed ones. The only problem is their fur get longer and longer everyday. I don’t know what to do when the first shedding season comes

About the baby oil again, whenever I put a little bit on her Luna’s nose, she tends to lick it. So I do really hope that it won’t hurt her.

Not sure the pic is too big, but finally managed to attach it

That is one fluffy bunny! I don’t know if the hair will grow longer. Fur length is genetically encoded, angora buns’ fur doesn’t stop growing, that’s why you have to cut their hair. They’re not a type of bunny that’s found in the wild, because an angora that doesn’t get its hair cut can’t function.

As for the mineral oil, it’s most likely harmless in small quantities if you use cosmetics-grade quality or baby oil. In bigger quantities it has a laxative effect.

Okay then, I will only use baby oil for softening if she have some flakes around her nose and ear.

Yeah she is so fluffy. Hope that her fur will stop growing after awhile just like some mixed breds that has Angora genes in them.

Oh wow! After seeing that picture she is one very fluffy bunny!! It is possible that you may have a mix breed, the fur does look a bit longer than what you would expect but without knowing what she’s mixed with (if she is ) it’s hard to tell if the hair will stop growing, I’d bring it up with the vet on your next check up and see if they can give any more advice good luck and hopefully the fur doesn’t become too much to handle haha. Brushing will help get rid of all the lose fur so it doesn’t get everywhere

I will definetely ask about it when I will take Snowball for neutering. I will probably make a hat or something like that during the shedding season by using her sheds. Thank you for the help!
