I live in NJ, and we are heading down to the shore for the week and we took Juliet and Sebastian with us as usual. I am in the car now, and I checked in on the rabbits, and their noses were going very fast. I could tell they were nervous and stressed and it was warm in the car, so I dabbed so cool water on their ears to cool them off. I am just worried about them.

Rabbits can die from stress and overheating. Youre already noting that they are both stressed and overheating to the point their body is starting to react to it. Time to kick up the AC, put up some fans, and give them extra attention so ensure their safety

It seems that they are fine now, calmed down and normal. In the car, I dabbed cool water on their ears to cool them off a little bit, and I pet them to help calm them down. I actually put on rabbit music on my phone from Youtube, and it worked pretty well!

Update: So we are at the shorehouse, and the buns are set up in their pen, and I set up a litterbox yesterday when I arrived with hay and litter. This morning, I noticed some normal sized poops, and some very small sized poops. The problem is that I dont know which bunny has the small poops and I am worried that one may have stasis.

Update 2: I am worried as usual about who is making the smaller poops, so I decided to do a treat test. I tried a small amount of pineapple, cauliflower and carrot. Sebastian ate all three, which was strange because I suspected he had the small poops. Juliet ate the pineapple and carrot. She has never been a fan of cauliflower. Did the small poops occur from the stress of the ride, will they return back to normal?I am changing the litterbox often to see new poops to see if any rabbit is still producing small poops. Some are normal, some are small. I saw Juliet eating hay, but I havent seen Sebastian eat any. I did put their morning pellets down and I went to the beach and they were all gone when I came back. I am wondering if the small poops are because of the stressful ride. Please, need feedback.

                  Hi Aaron,

Long car rides due to the stress can sometimes cause tummy problems in rabbits. Eating = a good sign, and any poop is great! It could be that the small poops are due to the stress of the car ride and if they are eating normally they should return to normal. Keep a tight eye on them both for eating, pooping and any lethargy or signs they may be having pain just in case. I think they should be fine though.

                  How are they today?

Update 3: They are fine and happy. The ride home was much more peaceful and stress free for them, their noses werent going as fast as before and they werent breathing as heavily. Happy to be home!

My bunny’s usually do small poops after a stressful vet visit so I wouldn’t be surprised if the stress of the car was the cause.

Small poops is better than wet smelly ones! After stress my one bun poops large wet smelly poop (not like the ones they eat but just nerves). It makes a mess and is horrid, but usually only lasts until the next day. I’m glad your bun is doing better!
