I have a 3 year old neutered male and 2 year old spayed female. They have been happily bonded since March. Over the last few days she has displayed aggressive behaviour. She starts to circle him then nip him and then starts to lunge at him. He had been unwell a few days ago but has been treated and is fine now. Any suggestions over whether I should separate them for a while? I’m.unsure about this as he always rushes back to her and they spend a few hours grooming each other before she becomes aggressive again! What should I do?

It sounds like she may be hurt. I had a girl that was doing this and it turned out she had a tiny fracture on her hip that took 3 vet visits to find. Separating sounds like a good idea. Separate cages, separate potties and supervised play time. If they they aggressive, throw a towel over her and put her in her cage to calm down.

Sickness can make a rabbit smell different. You might want to try some bonding sessions over the next few days so your girl can remember her bond to your boy. Medication can change a bun’s smell as well.
