I’m a beginner with my recent new rabbit Shadow; and I’ve been wondering how do people get their rabbits to love specific fruits and vegetables so much? I’d see posts like “my rabbit loves strawberries/bananas”, can I can’t feel but to feel I’m doing something wrong by not giving my rabbit the same experience. Whereas I can barely get my rabbit to like anything else other than carrots ( treat purposes of course. )

When I first got him, I gave him a carrot–without repetitive introduction myself, he devoured it and goes bonkers for them every time he sees one in my hand. But anything else that isn’t a carrot for treats, he’ll turn his head away. I tried to have him try a grape, pretty much putting it in front of him, he took some interest in it as he nipped it scarcely, then deciding to cut it in half due to the amount of sugar contains it has, figuring it’d be easier for him to eat but still turns his head away from it. The same thing goes with trying to give him a fresh strawberry, or a slice of apple or share a banana with him. I even tried lettuce, wouldn’t eat that either.

My bunny Finn did the same thing when I got him. I could only get him to eat crrots and dandelion flowers. What I did to get him to try more foods was offeringit to him and then if he showed any interest in it then I would leave it in his cage for a while. When I would go out again to check on him almost every time he would have eaten all or most of it. The bunny may be more interestedin you than the food

Sometimes bunnies need repeated exposure before they decide to try it You could keep trying. First 3 days I gave romaine to my rabbits, they didn’t take it so I left it overnight and by morning it was gone. On day 4, they nibbled it straight away. They were also a bit suspicious of the dried chicory root that I offered to them and not quickly became one of their favourite foods. Or maybe your bun doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth? That’s okay tho, you’ll find something they love!
