I asked my mom to get some pellets for our rabbit but she accidentally chose the young rabbit pellets. We go on vacation tomorrow morning and my mom really wants to get sleep since she and my dad will be driving. Can she be ok with young rabbit pellets?

Depending on how long the vacation is, I think you should be fine. The reason it is not generally advised to give adult bunnies young rabbit food is that the young bunny food contains alfalfa hay, which is too rich in nutrients for older bunnies. My concern is that a quick switch onto a food with a completely different base could upset their systems, something you don’t want to happen, especially before you leave. If there is any possible way you could get the food, I would. Maybe you could leave money with your pet sitter, or order it online to be overnight shipped.

If you have opened the bag, see if your rabbit will eat them before you go away. Most buns will love alfalfa based pellets but you never know…
If you have some of the adult ones left, I would mix them with the young rabbit ones (about half and half) so your bun can have the mix at first. It wont hurt her eating alfalfa pellets, but just give less perhaps. My rabbits are all over age 5 and eat an alfalfa pellet. You might have trouble transitioning her back onto adult ones when you get home!

            Great idea!
