At the vet today. He was supposed to get a cranial Xray to see if the vet could pinpoint if the abscess was coming from somewhere. She suspected a tooth root. When I called to set up the apt. last week, the abscess was huge. He looked like one of those frogs that blow up their chin, and by today it was completely gone. Nothing to feel at all. So we didn’t do the Xray. It’s a very strange thing. She said next time it flares up to give him a dose of Metacam to see if that helps. We’re just going to play it by ear for now, as it’s not really bothering him, although it can’t be comfortable when it gets big like that.

I had his ears checked out and he has a mild amount of bacteria in both ears. So Baytril Otic for 7 days and then recheck.

I also noticed the other night, and had vet check out, one of his little toes on the front foot is swollen. Almost like what a sore hock looks like but just one toe. I suspect there may be some arthritis that is causing him to hold is weight differently. Chlorhexidine wash and DermaGel and she will recheck that in a week too.

I love pictures of Bindi. He always looks like he’s made out of my favourite fluffy fleece blanket.
It’s a shame the little man can’t shake the Bermuda Triangle abscess, though… such a strange case…

              Hey Bindi bear!

ETA: Just a thought…If he is to be sedated for xrays, maybe to chest also, and check out that toe?  Or would your vet be able to do some x-rays with Bindi conscious?  Rumball has a conscious one done of his bladder last year. It was super quick.

I think he’s had xrays before without sedation. He’s usually a pretty good boy. She listened to his lungs and said they sound really good.

Mega frustration. Wouldn’t you know? The big old lump was big full this morning…….

Did he have SUbQ’s last night?  I know you thought might be related to that before. What was vets thoughts on that?

It seems so odd if pus. It doesn’t typically move like that, it’s so thick.

Sounds like that abscess is playing hide and seek with the vet…

Yes, he gets Sub Q fluids every night. I think the vet really has no idea. Bindi is a complete mystery and enigma when it comes to health problems he’s had. The abscess is HUGE today. Gonna give him a dose of Metacam and see if that helps.

Also, Sterling is unwell this weekend. Will do a separate post on that later.

Yes, that’s always the way. It was Canada Day weekend. Last time Bindi was sick was a long weekend also.

I think Sterling is doing better now.

Thanks, Bam. Abscess has gone back down, thankfully. Recheck in 2 days.

Sterling is doing better. But he’s got an awful tummy gurgle sound sometimes. I brought him to the vet with me and Bindi today just for a quick check up. Vet didn’t find anything unusual when feeling his tummy. She suggested putting him on the same weekly Benebac regimen Bindi is on.

As for Bindi, I knew his ears were still infected and I was right. The amount of gunk in his poor ears. Another med for 10 days.

I wonder if Sterling can use active charcoal to absorb the gas? If it’s a gas problem it could help, but I’m ignorant about this…
