This is still so new, I just lost my 4 month old baby girl due to complications to her spaying. The story behind her makes this even harder.
I have a 6 year old male and when he was 3 I got him a little sister. Gorgeous white blue eyed Holland lop named Lambchop. When she suddenly passed away in a weird ironic twist the breeder I got her from had a litter of babies, at the same day, at the same hour that my Lamb died. I knew I needed to get my older boy a new little sister and it was meant to be this litter. 2 months ago we brought his new little sister Lily home. I waited until she was 4 months before I took her to the vet.
I had an AWFUL feeling from the start. In my state there are certificates you can purchase to get discounts at select vets for spay/neutering of rabbits, I know someone who took their female rabbit to this particular animal hospital and she was fine, so instead of going to our usual trusted hospital we went somewhere new. When I brought Lily there all they did was weigh her, check her parts (to make sure she was actually a girl) and just took her away. That was it. Every vet I have ever taken any of my rabbits to always do the exam infront of you. Teach you about things ask about their diet etc. We got none of that and I had a bad “mom” feeling when I left. Later I got a phone call that she was out of surgery and doing fine, then 2 hours later I got the call… her temperature dropped and she was gone. She was a baby, and my 2nd rabbit in a span of 5 month that has passed away. I’m not only upset but embarrassed almost that this is the 2nd baby of mine to pass away.
I know the complications with rabbits and anesthesia but no one ever thinks it will happen to them, but it happened to my Lily.

This is so sad, I’m so sorry for both of your losses! Is this a reputable breeder? If not, perhaps these poor babies are being born with underlying issues. There’s no consolation though in losing a bun. I just had my Ophelia spayed and I could not tell you how extremely nervous I was. I was nauseous and shaky until I was told that she was out and doing fine. Again, I am so sorry for the loss of your buns! I’m sure it is discouraging but these instances were not your fault, so don’t feel guilty!

            So sorry for your loss.
I second Bunnoob. It is unfortunate and absolutely not your fault. There are always risks in surgery. This is just very bad luck.
Whatever the reasons i would look somewhere else for your bun’s new little sister….

If your male bun is neuteured you can wait longer to spay your girl and you’ll be happier that she will be an adult and stronger.
If it helps you can post photos of your buns…

I’ve never uploaded pictures here before not too sure how to do it!
She was just a baby, 4 months old. I had no idea this would/could happen to us.
