When I first got my bunny, Bean, around a month ago, she was too shy/scared to do much. I would leave her cage door open and she wouldn’t go out! About a week ago she started learning how high she can jump. She gets out of the cage on her own, which is great, but she can now jump on top of her cage, which must be 2 feet high! Is this something she will always do, or just a phase because she’s nearly 4 months old? I stress out every time she stands upright and looks at the top of the cage because I know what she’s plotting! (On the other side of the cage is the rest of my room, and I don’t want her getting into wires/running under somewhere before I can get to her.) Any advice?

Yep, she will always jump! They don’t have those big back legs for nothing

If you want to get a good idea of how high rabbits can jump, check out this video of professional rabbit jumping competitions, its a riot!

Most buns can jump 3 ft high, I’ve heard of more. I have a puppy play pen from Amazon that is 36in high, it works really well to keep Thor away from areas with wires that she could chew. You can also buy wire covers for things just in case she gets somewhere she should not!

Bunnies jump, that’s normal lol. Time to do more bunny proofing!

Thank you for the video, that’s so cute! Maybe that’s what I should do with Bean, lol.

Right now we’re working on getting a bunch of cardboard for my living room so we don’t have to worry about her chewing on all of our photo albums, haha. Even if she continues jumping I’m hoping she’ll settle down a little when she gets older. She gets into everything and is not fond of being picked up at all, even if it’s just for a second to move her from her cage. But I think I’m just used to my neighbor’s rabbit who is super old and contentedly sits in my lap for any amount of time!
