Is there anyway to help make a bunny more sociable? I let him out of the cage pretty much all day. He has access to his food and water as well as he likes the cats food. I was just curious as to why he hides under my couch most of the day and occasionally terrorises one of the cats. (It’s quite humorous to watch sometimes.) I also do have cardboard toys and twigs for him to chew on and throw. I also am able to hold to hold and pet him. We originally had two other rabbits who would run around the house and play him but we ended up giving those two up to a better home due to circumstances beyond our control. Any advice as to what to do would greatly be appreciated

I would try spending time with him on the floor just the two of you. Don’t pet him or pick him up if he comes up to you, just offer a tasty treat and let him explore Most rabbits are very curious and when he sees you are not a threat he may become more social. Some rabbits are less social than others, it is all a matter of personality, but I think he can certainly grow to trust you more!

As a side note, do not let your rabbit eat your cat’s food!!!! It is truly bad for them, as rabbits are strict herbivores and cats strict carnivores.

I keep our cat food up and away where the bunny can’t reach it. He’s starting to come out more around the family and even plays with the cats. I continue to let him out everyday and put him back in the cage before bed. Thank you for the advice it was very helpful

How long have you had this bunny?
