I’m not feeling well today; the bf has gone to get apple juice for me and left a sleeve of soda crackers with me -as I’m laying down on the couch.

Our new adopted bunny Hazel is still a bit shy. She’s super playful. She’ll run up to you and play follow the leader but doesn’t want to be given attention most times and ducks our hands.

The moment Andrew leaves Hazel got all adventurous. She hopped up on the couch with me! Then she hopped onto me! Then onto my chest! Then she grabbed the sleeve of crackers! Her and I played a tug-o-war with the package. Then she outsmarted my expectation of her and put her face down the package sleeve and took a bite out of a cracker!

I know crackers are a no-no but she seemed absolutely addicted to the idea of them; like she recognized crackers and wanted some.

Maybe the household that gave her up let her have them?
My last bunny wasn’t interested in ppl food so this is very different for me…

Any other buns want unexpected people food?

Typically, bag crinkle sounds of any kind set my bunnies circling around my feet. Chances are, she heard the crinkles and thought they were pellets/hay/treats

That’s true, crinkles get her attention and peak her interest… But after the biteful she got she was in the equivilent of a kibble friendzy and wanted more
It’s going to be tough to snack on the couch with her around

My bun is an omnivore since… always. lol He will literally abandon pellets and a big plate of salad greens and fresh blueberries just so he can try to steal a bite of taco (or pasta, or curried rice, or Cheetos, or wine… anything I’m eating or drinking). Some buns have people food tendencies. Others not. I envy the parents of those who do not. Do I let him? No. Has he been ninja sneaky and stolen stuff before? Yep. Including the wet food my vet’s office keeps in a bowl for the street cats.

I know I’ve mentioned it before, but Bam once stole a pork rind and ate half before I got to take it from him. He’s also happily eaten beef flavored probiotic pellets that I bought for my dog. They had a type of bacteria that’s good for rabbits as well, so I let him have a few every day, the ingredients were bunny ok – only I’d missed out on the mention of beef flavor.

Hazel is out whenever we are home. She has free range in the open concept entryway, living room, dining room, and hallway now too.
The living area is where we all congregate and have evening snacks
Hazel is encouraging us to eat healthier apparently she likes bananas, nectarines, apples, mint, parsley, papaya, dried apricot, spinach…..
Now we just have to watch that she doesn’t steal our tortilla chips, popcorn, and crackers

Chewie heard you say ‘popcorn’ and recommends the awesome low-fat microwave kind from IKEA.

Oh snap! He steals popcorn too?!

I could tell you were an ikea shopper from Chewie’s most interesting bunny in the world thread I recognized the apolstery patterns from the pillows and a couple other things I can’t remember right now.

We make *weird* popcorn. We use a hot air popper, add coconut oil instead of butter and then season with sea salt. I know it sounds froufrou but there were some dietary limitations in the household for awhile and this was the only safe version of popcorn we could do. Turns out it’s yummy and we still eat it!

My house is basically an IKEA showroom – I can count our non-IKEA belongings on our fingers.

That’s how I make my kettle corn: the coconut oil gives them that cinema flavour *droool*

I wasn’t kidding about Chewie being an omnivore. If I don’t let him have a micro nibble of my smoked turkey and Irish cheddar sandwich, for instance, he literally claws at my leg. Painfully.

just the other day i sat on the floor next to Sienna and started to unwrap a bag of Sunchips. she came dashing over and tried to reach up to take the bag from me. i had to wait for her to give up before i could eat them. she’s never gone crazy for people food before. i honestly think it was her mistaking the chips for treats.

Bindi won’t eat any people snacks (except fruite) but first thing when he comes out he makes a beeline for my cat’s food dish. If I forgot to put the bowl up, he goes to town eating the kibble. He eats the cat food and my cat is always trying to eat hay…..confused..
