I’ve left my rabbit at a friend’s place for about a week as I had to go overseas for business. He has stayed with her before but this time she’s living with her partner, who has a teacup poodle.

This was his first time meeting another animal and as he’s quite anxious, he wasn’t happy at first but quickly calmed down. I made sure to tell her that my bun and the dog should always be in separate rooms when unsupervised and she agreed.

A few hours after I left, she contacted me about my bun having lost a patch of hair, resulting in a small bald patch.

I’ve never seen him lose that much hair before. Is this a cause for concern?

It’s not uncommon for a molting bun to molt in patches. I expect the same thing could happen when a bun sheds from stress. If the skin is fine and smooth, I don’t think you need to worry. But it’s good the bun and poodle are kept separate when unsupervised.

Yep, what bam said! When stressed (new enviroinment/people/smells/etc) buns will mass lose hair and it might trigger some molting.

Also your bun is almost a twin of my bun they have similar names too! Mine’s called Kuro ahahah
