hi everyone, Charlie finally got spayed today. she didn’t get surgery until 3:00 in the afternoon and it’s now midnight. it hasn’t been very long but she’s very sad looking and isn’t doing much of anything. it’s kind of what i expected and i’m letting her try but it’s hard to see her like this and not worry. She hasn’t eaten much of anything except a teaspoon of critical care, but the vet said that was to be expected. I’ve left her pellets and hay and veggies in her room should she get hungry. I syringe fed her her meds a few hours ago and she fought me on it but i think i got them in.
I’m a little concerned because i went to pick her up earlier to move her to a cooler room and she felt like she had less on herself. I wiped her feet the best i could without making her too undomfeotable and it was definitely pee. She hasn’t gotten up and gone into her litter box to pee or poop at all since being home. I had her on the bed with th me and she would get up and adjust herself and hop a little bit but there’s not a whole lot of action going on over here

I guess i’m just looking for advice for females post spay. And wondering if anyone has any input on her peeing on herself.
        thanks!

No advice for the peeing herself thing.. just make sure her stomach stays clean and keep wiping her up. Is she on pain medication? You mentioned medicine but I can’t tell if there was pain medication being given to her. If not you should go get some as soon as you can

If she isn’t eating still try tempting her with her favorite fruit / treat

And if still not feed her more critical care and some water too so she doesn’t get dehydrated and her gut doesn’t stop moving from lack of food (rabbits need food every 12 hours or else their gut could stop )

If you don’t see any improvements within a couple of days bring her back to get checked on

Oh, and if her ears are feeling cold get her a blanket and maybe even a warm water bottle (not too hot!)

After being spayed rabbits tend to be much colder then they usually would be so keep an eye on her temperature and warm her up if needed.

I agree with Vincent. How is she doing now?

My little bridge bun, Olivia, was very poorly after her spay. Super lethargic and sad looking and not wanting to eat for several days. I honestly thought she was gonna die. But it’s really to be expected as a spay is a pretty major surgery.

Like Vincent said, you’ll have to force feed her if she’s still unwilling to eat. Sometimes fragrant herbs like Parsley or Cilantro can help trigger appetite.
