Moxie can probably offer some advice.

I’m glad you’re happy with the decision. Are the homeschooling resources near you? I know where I live, there are homeschooling groups that offer activities, field trips, etc. for homeschooled kids so they don’t miss out on that kind of stuff. I suppose if you attend these things with a group of other homeschooled kids then it will make up for some of the loss of the social aspect.

I homeschooled my kids for over 20 years. My biggest suggestion to you is be patient with your parent(s) and try to have a good attitude. If something isn’t working for you, try to talk to them about it.
Good luck and happy pajama days are ahead!

we haven’t picked out a curriculum yet, but most will be online because both of my parents work: mom- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday dad- weekdays and on call everyday 24/7.
LBJ- I have been in public school since until now and I am still doing 4-H so I don’t think we will be doing the group thing, but my parents and I will be doing lots of field trips so I won’t be stuck in the house all day I will be doing work in my/ the bunnies’ room so i will have pals. (I get along better with animals than people)

              SUPER EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s so awesome! The nicest, brightest, most well-rounded kids I met (from my teacher point of view) were homeschooled. So you’ll be joining a pretty cool club

I home-schooled my two from 12 and 13 and both are now happy confident young men who have both finished their first year at university. My comments on the local home-schooling group are best left unsaid, but we managed fine without them. There are plenty of other ways to socialise, my youngest went to Army Cadets twice a week, and spent one day a week volunteering at an animal sanctuary We did at least one day out each month, plus lots of field trips mainly for geography.

                      Good luck with it

Yay! Congratulations! I remember you weren’t happy with your school (or if it was the people in it). As LBJ says, you can ask MoxieMeadows about home-schooling, she’s home-schooled.

I was a homeschooled until 4th grade due to the extremely poor quality of public schools where we lived in Louisiana. When we moved to FL I was switched to public school. In retrospect, I actually think I would have preferred to stay in homeschool. I didn’t get along well with a lot of people and I went from (what my family has told me) a very happy and loving child to being very angry once I was surrounded by people I didn’t get along with. I did enjoy marching band though, I made a lot of good memories from that. As an adult now, I will offer you this piece of advice: be patient and kind with your parents! After a few years of public school I became such an angry and upset person because I just didn’t like people. My mom tried homeschooling me again but I had developed this bad attitude and I was just rude and impatient with her. Take this advice!!! You WILL come to agree with your parents when you are an adult, I know because I SWORE I would never see things there way and I didn’t understand why they were the way they are. Now, I wish I had listened to them more, it would have saved me from having to learn things the hard way. Sorry about the parent rant! Good luck to you, I hope you enjoy it!! I’m sure the buns will love the extra company

Congratulations! I hope you do very well! I was home schooled for more than half of my schooling. I hated public school, was bullied constantly, so home school was refreshing to me. We weren’t involved with any home schooling groups, from what I’ve heard some are great and some not so much, so test the waters carefully if you decide to get involved with them. I do encourage you to learn to apply yourself, even in lessons you don’t necessarily enjoy. One thing I regret is not pushing myself to do better in English grammar, I learned just enough to pass and that was it. Unfortunately now I work with a lot of English as a second language students and struggle to help them properly with basic grammar, and I am trying to write a children’s book, so I’ve had to knuckle down and re-teach myself stuff I should have learned a long time ago. Just remember that school is preparing you for a successful future, and the future will be less frustrating if you don’t have to keep going back over things you should have learned before.
Sorry for rambling, I wish you the best of luck!

As much as I’d like to give you advice, I have no tips for you. I just wanted to say I think it’s a great solution and I hope it works out really well for you! The last months I occasionally heard you vent on the forum about how stressful school is for you. Homeschooling will take away many issues with classmates and such, and I think it’s a great alternative! (Teenage me would be so jealous at you, here in NL homeschooling is nearly out of the question because of extremely strict education laws. I’d have jumped at the chance to be rid of all those pesky bullies and high school drama, so glad you’re getting the chance!)

Ellie – It wasn’t so long ago that homeschooling was practically unheard of in the US. I mean, you could do it, but it wasn’t very common. I’m not sure what changed or if things became easier. I know there were a lot of hoops you had to jump through when I was a kid.

That’s awesome! I wish this option would have been available for me at the time.
