Pygmy rabbits are not the same species as the rabbits we keep as pets, it’s closely related to Cottontail rabbits. I didn’t even know Pygmy rabbits existed, so I can’t answer your question. Cottontails and European rabbits (the species pet rabbits belong to is called European rabbit) don’t interbreed, or I’m pretty sure there would be crossbreeds.

          It’s an endangered species.

Here’s some facts in case other members are interested in knowing something about this extremely cute little rabbit:

Bam is correct, pygmy rabbits are a wild, non-domestic species. Even for people who may have permits for keeping some wild animals, pygmy rabbits would likely be illegal due to their endangered species status.

Netherland dwarf and Polish are the smallest breeds of domestic rabbits

Any species that has such a specific habitat and dietary requirement is always at more risk, even if they should be quite successful otherwise. Especially when it’s range seems to be in what is now highly developed areas.
