        Hello!

My husband and I got ourselves some bunnies several months ago, they are about seven or eight months old and we just bred them, both different breeds. We figured out what the female is, a beautiful black New Zealand and our male is just one big question mark! I figured he would be the easier of the two

I already researched genetics and I understand that and I more or less understand him (have the females charts set up just fine!) but I still can’t figure out what breed the male is.

So, meet Imix, soon to be daddy  and any feedback would be much appreciated.

          Hi Fenrir

Please note that intentional breeding is not a subject that is permitted here on Binky Bunny. You can see more on that in the Forum Rules and Guidelines.

We can, however, try have a guess as to what breed your rabbit is!   I think he is probably a mix breed. The spotted pattern of his coat is sometimes called English (in the UK) but this can occur in a range of breeds. Very often, rabbits are incorrectly labelled as English Spot breed because of the spotted pattern, but the body form of English spot rabbits is very arched and they are not a common breed either.

That aside, your boy does have a stocky look and square type face so I wouldn’t be surprised if he is has NZ breed in him too. Or maybe a even lop mix.  Do you know his weight?

Some other pictures might be useful. His side profile perhaps?

His face shape reminds me of my rex and she had brown spotting on white too. So maybe rex or part rex?

(I’m not that good with breeds so don’t take my word for it)

Oops, guess I should read the rules a little more carefully next time, I thought I was being careful

I was ruling out English Spot because he doesn’t have the line down the back, the butterfly on his snout and the spots on his cheeks but I don’t know why we didn’t think he was a mix

And a rex mix might make sense too, he does have pretty soft fur, not rex soft but could be a mix!

He has medium length fur, which after researching both these breeds a little closer, they both have shorter fur so he might have something else in him but I’m not sure.

Sorry for poor quality pics, and he is having his morning exercise so he didn’t want to sit still for us  I will try another side profile picture after he is all tired out if this one doesn’t help enough. Thank you for your help.
