We got a 3year old female lion head from my husbands friend. She was kept in a double hutch on the balcony. Never let out only for hugs with the teen. Now we have her she has a single hutch but garden to run in every day and lots of fresh veg. First few days were fine but now she keeps biting us when we approach her or if I put food in her bowl. As far as we know She didn’t bite her last family. She has bit my 3year old and my husband wants to get rid of her coz of it. But I don’t want to send her packing to another home……..please help.

Are they nips or bites? Little nips are like brief pinches, whereas bites are usually painful and can draw blood. Buns can nip for innocent (non-aggressive) reasons: territorial (ie. if you stick your hand in her cage), attention (ie. if you are sitting by your bun and she wants to be petted then she might do this as a way of saying “Hey, I’m down here, pet me!”), or to move you/your hand out of the way (ie. you are blocking her path). When you say she bites when you approach her, do you mean she bites your hand when you reach for her or is it something else?
