A little while back, my guy, Sir Max, had a UTI, threw all his potty training out the window, and just started pooping and peeing everywhere. Once we got the infection all cleared up, he went back to peeing exclusively in his litter box, but has continued to poop everywhere. A lot. I got him a bigger box and started cleaning more often to see if that would help, but it did not. Any idea why he’s doing this and how to get him back to using proper potty habits?

I know you said you got him a bigger litter box, but how big? Can you send a picture?

another question – do you let him eat while hes in his litter box? do you provide hay in the litter box?

It’s big enough for him to lay in if he wanted to, and nothing bigger would fit in his cage. And no, he’s picky and I have to put his hay on a different level in his cage, because if he gets poop on it he won’t eat it. (And perhaps it’s worth noting that the hay shelf is the only part of the cage where he does not poop)
