Hey everyone, I’m going on vacation Monday morning and not coming back until the evening of Thursday night, again I’m a newly rabbit owner so I’ve been getting to know my bunny and I know what care he needs. I live in a desert and it is supposed to get hot this week but I’m in a fairly cool room and so is my rabbit. I was originally going to have his original owner of his parents come over to check on my rabbit Yogi but she’s going to be busy. Although my home isn’t going to be unattended and my grandparengrandparents will be here. I just didn’t want to stress out my rabbit by taking him somewhere else for a couple days. Ever since I’ve owned Yogi be has been sleeping in my room. So im pretty sure he knows the smell of ny home. Anyways I know that my rabbit usually goes down to the bottom of his pellet bowl by the next day as I don’t give him much and I give him unlimited hay, I’ll probably be over stuffing his hay box as well. My grandparents are going to be taking care of him and they have taken care of small pets for me before such as my guinea pig. But i am just so worried about Yogi, he might be in my room all day and I plan to have some air going. I let Yogi out in the morning mid day and late at night, and if he it doesn’t get out he gets upset. I just want some advice from other rabbit owners and what you have done to make sure that your rabbit is safe and comfortable. Usually my I clean his cagr everyday picking up any stray poops and he id a really destructive boy. I use news paper and paper bedding in his cage and the samr day he shreds it all apart not really sure why. But I’m just gonna make sure that i bong with him lots before I go and is there advice you can give me? I’m also really worried because we have a cat and Yogi doesn’t really like them, he gets mad and thumps loudly. I always make sure my door is closed and never allow the cat near my room. But yeah I didn’t plan to write so much but I am just so worried I want the best for him while i am away.

Before you leave, you need to let your grandparents watch how you care for your rabbit, how and what you feed him, and how to clean up after him, and let them help so that they will know the routine. If you want them to be able to get Yogi out of his cage and back in, make sure that they can do that. Do they need to lure him back in with a treat, or do they have to pick him up? Make sure that they know how to correctly pick up and hold a rabbit if that is needed. Ask them if they have any questions about his care.

Besides giving them a hands on lesson, write down his daily diet and routine and any care tips that you might need to share.

Make sure that they have the name and phone number of your vet in case any medical problems arise.

Also make sure that they know to keep the cat out of your room.

I assume that you have air conditioning in your room since you are in a hot climate. Make sure that your grandparents are aware of how your rabbit normally acts, and that they will know if something may be off with him that might require medical attention. I also assume that they will be able to call you if they have any questions or concerns.

Sounds good, I’m leaving a lot of information on a piece of paper for them and I am also showing them how to feed/clean his living space. I’m leaving Monday morning so I’ll make sure he gets out and I’ll give him lots of kisses before I go!

I just left my bun 2 days to be with my aunt…my boyfriend had to feed her and clean her potty…she is sooooo mad at me!😂 We usually eat lettuce together (mixed greens…NEVER iceburg) but my little rotten snatched a leaf an stayed in her room giving me the side eye…like he didn’t give her pinch of oatmeal, handful of greens, and slice of banana…but woe is her! Momma deserted her for two days!😂 I have to beg her forgiveness now. I bottle fed her and she’s a year and 3 months old and I’ve never left her….Bunnies are very attached….and moody…and can be rude. But they’re like people…eventually they’ll stop being mad at you.
