Mummy got over the allergy to hay,  but its come back, it only happens if I do a tinkle on my hay, Mummy is trying to keep my ‘Man Cave’ as natural as possible for me, do you think we should go back to using Hay cookies?

We’ve been using this, because the vet man said it was good

        .

We use this at the moment for my toilet because we can’t get any litter at the moment, its all for cats and I can’t have clay.

I think its my tinkle smell (Wet hay) that triggers it off, I don’t use a hay rack, I take it down and tinkle on the hay anyway, all animals do it and humans used grass in the fields before there were toilets.

We have hay fever here for 3 of us. Also one of our family can’t handle fresh wood smells ( meant we had to get rid of a beautiful wooden indoor hutch ) plus Oakley ( one of our buns) has allergies to hay dust.
The hay fever here is worsened when they pee on the hay too.

We use pine pellets as litter ( it hides the smell well)
Oakley has a hay rack and he eats it from that without pulling it out , that along with having a grilled litter tray ( ware scatterless jumbo corner tray ) to keep the litter smell down as it’s more “hidden” under the grill , as well as shaking out the hay first to remove any dust has helped a lot.

Our other bun pulls his hay out all the time and wees on it.
The best we have found for him to help us is to shake the dust out of the hay – store the hay ina container in the garage to limit the hay we are breathing in at one time to just what is in their hay racks – covered litter trays so we don’t end up with a whole tray of weed on hay , then cleaning off the grill of tray any hay he pulls onto it 3 times away ( which is easy with the covered tray as it’s separated from the litter so no litter waste )

Btw I know covered trays aren’t recommended by a lot of people but mine don’t sleep in there or anything so they don’t spend enough time in there to worry about sore hooks. They eat there and then get off and sleep in their beds.
