I took Finn into the vet when he started just licking his hay like he was physically unable to eat it. The second day at the vet he was covered in yellow drool and extremely stiff like a statue. He didn’t poop and barely ate anything. It’s been 5 days and he still has not eaten. His X-rays and blood tests were all normal. As of now we are expecting euthanasia but I just can’t give up. He is only 1 year old and I love him dearly. He keeps looking down when and grinding his teeth and whining. The vet also remarked that his tongue is slightly to the left. His lips are tense and pulled back he can barely part them. I am so heartbroken and need help.

His teeth were fine on the xrays? Is he eager to eat when he is being syringe fed? Luna sends vibes ((((Finn))))

I’m so sorry to hear this, teeth issues is certainly my first thought as well, or perhaps an infection somewhere relating to the teeth, perhaps the roots of one of the teeth etc. But if that was clear on x-ray, I’m really not sure what to suggest. Did they do a physical check for tooth spurs under anaesthetic as well?

Very best wishes that you can get a diagnosis very soon so that Finn can be on the mend.

To be extra sure it’s not teeth issues, I’d have the x-ray repeated from various angles (in case they only took a shot from one position) and have his mouth checked during anesthesia as Azerane suggested. It’s going to be risky since he’s debilitated, but since the other option is to put him to sleep…

{{{Finn!}}}  That is so sad.  Is he being syringe fed? Giving IV fluids, pain medication?

Does he go outdoors? Or do you live in an area where there are a lot of ticks?
