Teddy is now a teenager (and therefore ready for his snip) – he’s started getting a little more (shall we say) confident. Has bitten his mama (my 10 year old daughter) – simply because she had stopped patting him (he’s super snuggly but doesn’t like it when the petting stops) and has started getting somewhat destructive in his ‘home’. One of the items in his area is a green bunny tube made of plastic. He adores running through it and throwing the tube about then pen. However he’s now taken to chewing on it. I came in the other day and found lots of green plastic all over his face and down his front and around the pen. So I removed the pieces and the tube. I now only put it in when I’m in the room with him and can keep an eye on him with it.

Do you think he would have actually consumed it?? This was over a week ago and his eating/bowel habits haven’t changed and I haven’t noticed any plastic in his poops. Any advice on what I could do to bunny proof the tube so he doesn’t eat it? Hubby suggested wiping on something that tasted horrible to him but didn’t hurt him (vinegar??). He’s got lots of appropriate chew items in the pen to play with and chomp on but I’d love to hear how I could leave his tube in with him as he just adores running through it.

          Hey, lemonsoup.
I think that your bunny may just be chewing it. As, rabbits don’t usually tend to eat anything that doesn’t taste right to them. My bunny does something similar to that. She “eats” my homework (paper) if I leave it on the floor to go to the bathroom or something. She also does that with paper towel rolls. It looks like she’s eating them since she bites the stuff, but when I look closely I see that she doesn’t actually eat the stuff she just bites it for fun I guess.

Hope I helped, and that you can help me back with my questions.

I agree that it’s unlikely he has swallowed any. Even so, I would keep it as a supervised toy only as you are doing.

Thanks Fluffy and Azerane. Will keep it to supervised play time only
