My bunny won’t leave the corners of my room. He especially likes to be in the corner by my bed or dresser so that he is surrounded on all sides. When he does this he sits there for at least 15 minutes or longer if I let him. We have playtime just fine, he interacts with me and allows me to pet him and pick him up to put him in his cage.I have only had him for four days so I have been marking this up to him just feeling unsafe and trying to feel comfortable but today I Google searched online and read that bunnies may be ill if they don’t leave the corner. His ears aren’t back and he’s not laying down. He just sits. Please help! I don’t know if I should be concerned or not!

He is about 5 months if that helps

If he’s new and you don’t know if it’s normal or not for him you should take him in to the vet

As you know bunnies are hard to tell if they are sick or not and it’s important to have a Base lime for their personallaity

He could just like the safety of corners but he could be feeling unwell and you’d never know other wise

Frankly it sounds pretty normal if he still comes over to play but you should definitely get a base line so next time you can tell if he’s acting differently or not

However if you’ver had him for a while and this is new and different there’s more of a chance that he is sick

Short version: take him to the vet to be safe

When you first bring a rabbit home, it’s best to limit its space. Keep it in a cage/pen or some small section of a room so that it can get used to all the new sights, smells and people. Then you can gradually expand its space. You also don’t know how much of a chewer a new bunny might be, so for their sake and the sake of your things, it’s good to limit their space at first.

Rabbits do like corners and hidey places. They will often pick out a favorite spot in a room and hang out there. If he is eating well and pooping normally, and moving around at times, it sounds like he is okay, and is just adjusting to his new surroundings.  Keep a close watch on him to pick up any vibes that he may not be well, but his actions so far seem pretty normal.

They often like to sit under a chair or low table, because if they have a roof they are reasonably safe from predators that come from above.

A bunny who sits still can be sick, but you can test that with a treat (like a regular pellet if he likes those, or a leaf of a green). If he eats, he’s just sitting. If he won’t eat, you should be cautious.

Sounds like that’s his safe spot. My bunnies spend most of the day in their little cardboard hidey houses. Like Bam mentioned, not eating would be a sign of illness, as well not pooping/peeing normally.

I think it’s too early to know whether this is ‘normal for him’ sort of behaviour but so long as he is doing everything else he should, I wouldn’t be too concerned yet. It could be a case of getting used to his surroundings and getting a good view of his environment. I would recommend a vet checked up anyway – not because of this but to get the vet to see his baseline so you can detect any issues further on 🙂
