I’ve had cinnabunn for over two years now and while I love and adore him he has his quirks. One of these quirks is that he is always “angry”. He will very often attack you in random situation (and yes I mean random) to the point where i can recognize his “angry fits”. his body language during these fits are usually alert eyes and ears, slightly erect tail, and quick hurried movements before he starts lunging. He can be a very loving bunn but sometimes it really is a guessing game as to which mood he will be in.

He just always has these fits no matter the circumstance and while sometimes it is understandable most often it is pretty uncalled for. He will attack lily (bonded bunn), evey (my cat), innocent hamsters in balls (don’t worry she’s alive just scared), hands, brooms, and sometimes random things like flowerpots (i will feed him wheat grass from a flowerpot and sometime he runs and slams into the flowerpot when he’s angry raging)

I’ve heard some people argue that there is no such thing as a mean rabbit but in my opinion cinnabunn is a mean bunny and I do not think it is entirely his fault. I wonder if it is genetic because he is a netherland dwarf or if i really have done something to wrong him.

He is a fixed bunn but no matter how much love (i only pick him up for medical reasons, spend a lot of time with him, give him outside cage time, and pet him), he’s just always angry.

Is this really normal or is something wrong with him?

Thats my Bombur Hes a naturally angry bun, and attacks “randomly”. I started a journal soon after getting him to recognize his angry triggers. They can be small triggers, such as the tv being a volume or two above normal, or if he felt he didnt get enough pets earlier in the day. Pettings are funny, because he only likes to be pet on his terms, so it took a while to realize he also acts out for attention. Sometimes he throws a fit because his toy ball didnt roll the right way or because Blue would rather sleep than play with him. Sometimes, when the weather is changing, he will also act out. Not a day goes by where hes not angry about something for atleast a few minutes

But, hes still a loving bun when he wants to be. I love him just as much as my other two, not as easily bothered buns

I recommend starting a journal to monitor his bursts. Write down the date and time he acts out, and write down anything that happened earlier in bullet points. So, say, he acts out at 2:31pm, write that down, write down how hes acting out, and write bullet points for anything you did in the past 2 to 5 hours with him. Any pets you offered and for how long, any treats/food or lack of, if any new or old sounds or smells popped up (cooking?), ect. Hopefully after a week or few, you will be able to find a pattern to his triggers

I mean i know he gets cranky when hes hungry, when he thinks lily has food that he doesn’t have, when you move too fast in front of his face, when you pet him wrong, when i’m sweeping in his territory, when lily doesn’t groom him (like she did just now), and the list goes on but i just feel so sorry for the thing he decides to unleash his tiny netherland fury on. most of the time it’s lily. the poor babe is always getting chased by him. it’s never violent but once he’s in these moods i never know how to diffuse them besides letting him run his course or trying to distract him temporarily with a treat.

it is a little comforting knowing someone else has to deal with a testy bunny.
