Just got home from vet- bunny got neutered.. I set up a big box (to keep him from running around) that was very high, almost waist high… So he couldn’t jump out.. well he jumped out of it within 2 minutes…I didn’t even know he could jump that high normally let alone just after surgery. The vet didn’t tell me until after I picked him up that he would need a smaller space- hence the box.. Because normally he free roams in one room of the house. I peeked at his incision and sure enough I saw some blood, not alot, just a bit surrounding his area.. not wet or dripping, just on the skin a bit. I’m assuming he will be fine. I got him in a very small cage, enough to move around a bit in. Should I keep him in here with food and water because otherwise I think he will be running around already. I think he doesn’t realize how much pain he is in, due to the meds lol. Poor bunny. I’m a first time bunny owner so I think I have lots to learn. Please tell me what u think and give me advice…
He’s just laying in there now. By the way, it was noon when he got out of surgery and now it is 6pm

A little blood is normal for the first day or two after surgery, as long as its scabbing over and not dripping. Same with swelling: swelling is ok for the first few days. Neuters are very easy for most males. Most males bounce back within the first two days. My Bombur only needed a few hours before he was trying to binky around

How big is the cage he is in now? He should be in a cage where he can lay out, run around, and bounce around. Of course, big enough for a litter box, water, and food as well. If its too small for all of that, youll need to go out and buy a cage around that size.

Couldn’t he just free roam in one room like he normally does then? I mean, if he might binky in the cage then what does it matter if he’s out of the cage? I do have a really big cage but it’s being used by our baby bunnies. I think he may be better off just being let out. But the vet said he needs to stay wrapped in a blanket so he doesn’t get cold- that seems odd to me because his ears are warm. And it’s 68 degrees in our house.

            Thanks

For the first day to first week he shouldnt be allowed to binky or jump, but he still needs room to stand, lay, and move around. He shouldnt be wrapped in a blanket, but he should have the blanket in a space just in case to nest in if he pleases. Surgery and meds can lower a rabbits temp for a few days

I kept bandit in his cage for the first few hours. Then he wanted out and I let him out and he just flopped on the couch and rested.
