        Hi everyone,

So i’m just wondering if anyone has any tips on a safe way to keep my bunnies cool when i’m out at work all day? I know you can buy cool packs, give them chilled water bottles / frozen treats etc. etc. but all these things either require me to be their supervising them otherwise they’ll end up eating things they shouldn’t be, or need refreshing every few hours when they’re no longer cool!

I need something that I can do in the morning which will stay cool for most of the day, but which they can’t hurt themselves / accidentally ingest etc. I live in the UK so it’ll only be a month or so in the summer when it’s a little too hot for them which makes buying an air-con unit a bit too expensive.

        Thanks in advance

I usually have a standing fan with the wires well bunny proofed and tucked behind furniture running all day which is really rather bad for electric bills I suppose.. but that’s the only thing I can think of that doesn’t include ice.

My bunnies live in my basement though so it’s already a bit cooler down there so I don’t know if that’d work for your place

I’d suck it up and buy an air con unit or a fan. I’m in the UK too.

You can also buy tiles (floor tiles) that will be cooler to lay on.

Iced waterbottles aren’t too bad and they last most if the day. Just wrap it in a pillow case first and it should be fine

Yes if you wrap a 2 liter water bottle in a sock or pillow case, it should stay cold all day! I’ve tested this in 85 degree (F) weather when our AC went out, it worked fine

Nip the heat in the bud (so to speak) by preventing the heat from coming into the house by closing curtains sun side, opening windows in the morning to clear air etc…. if you’re frightened if them chewing the bottle you could attach it to the outside of cage or run, and they can get close to it without touching it which will bring the temp of the air around it down.
