I adopted my albino rabbit (Arti) just over a year ago. We have another rabbit (Chaos), which we had for roughly 3 and a half years before adopting Arti. Arti is an agressive rabbit but I have notied that most of it seems to be because she hasn’t seen something and her natural reaction seems to be to attack. She doesn’t seem to have really bad eyesight, she’s happy to run around my living room and doesn’t walk into objects but we haven’t moved the furniture for a while so she might just remember where everything is. I have noticed its mainly when things are close, like when we try and interact with her and hold out a hand, or Chaos gets a bit too close and she hasn’t seen him move near.

Im just wondering if anyone else who has albino rabbits have noticed that there is an issue with their eyesight or being agressive. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I don’t have an albino rabbit, but I know that albino animals in general are likely to have vision problems. Because they lack the protective pigment in the eye, albino animals are very sensitive to light and also can have related problems leading to poor vision focus. Humans with albinism often have vision problems. We used to own an albino cockatiel, and she also had very limited vision for a bird and was very sensitive to being in direct sunlight.

Maybe others know about rabbit albinism causing vision problems?

As to the aggression, it sounds likely that her surprise could be leading to aggressive reactions. Thor reacts aggressively if I startle her or approach her from a blind spot. Maybe you could try brushing her whiskers before touching her? That would give her an early warning that someone is nearby.
